Joseph Fick
Joseph Fick died of heart disease Dec. 16, 1932, at his home near Alger, having been in poor health several months. Mr. Fick was born Feb. 26, 1862, in Sanilac county. He resided at Lapeer until he came to Alger about 40 years ago. He was married to Martha Muma March 1, 1883, at Lapeer, who died March 20, 1913. He was married in March, 1914, to Elizabeth Rich. He is survived by one son, Chauncy Fick, of Alger; one daughter, Mrs. Loydd Estes of Detroit; two grandchildren, Harrison Fick of Alger and Mrs. William Whyte of Detroit; one sister, Mrs. Ida Morris, of Baltimore, Md.; and four brothers, Henry of Wisconsin, Fred, George and Jim of Lapeer. Services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church Sunday, Dec. 18, at 2:30 p. m., conducted by Rev. George Navin. The body was taken to Lapeer Monday for burial. Pall bearers were John Dunn, Wash Dunn, Hamilton Dunn, George Geister, George Allen and C. N. Bunting.
The church was crowded with sorrowing friends. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. Mr. Fick or "Uncle Joe" as he was commonly called was highly esteemed by all who knew him.
