Philla Gills Fairchild
HOLD SERVICES FOR MRS. FAIRCHILD
Mrs. Philla Gills Fairchild, 89, died at the home of her son, Claude, of Tobacco township, on Sunday, February 24. Funeral
services were held on Wednesday afternoon at the Dale Methodist church, at 2 o'clock, with burial in the Dale cemetery. The
Rev. Donal Sailor officiated.
Mrs. Fairchild was born in Fulton County, Ohio, on August 27, 1856. She was married there to Mr. Fairchild i 1875, moving to
Tobacco township shortly after, they engaged in farming. In 1907 they retired from farming and moved to Beaverton, later they
moved to Detroit, where Mr. Fairchild died in 1925. Until the last two years Mrs. Fairchild had been making her home with her
daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Harper, of Arlington, Virginia. Two years ago she returned to Tobacco township to live with her son.
Mrs. Fairchild was an active member of the Presbyterian Women's Society in Beaverton for a number of years. Surviving besides
her son and daughter are six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
