Claud Fairchild
Claud D. Fairchild, 92, of 926 Dale Road, Tobacco Township, died Thursday, May 13, at the Clare Hospital, following an
extended illness. Born in Lyons, Ohio, October 4, 1878, Mr. Fairchild came to Gladwin County with his parents in 1884. He
lived here most of his life except for 21 years in Detroit. He owned and operated the Dale Store for many years, and served
as justice of the peace and in other township offices. Mr. Fairchild was a charter member of the Dale United Methodist
Church. He was married in Detroit in November 1941 to the former Ida French.
Surviving are his wife, Ida; two sons, Clare of Detroit, and Richard of Walled Lake; two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Kreger of
Prudenville, and Mrs. Maxine Glass of Sima, Calif,; a step-daughter, Mrs. Esther Broka of Beaverton; 10 grandchildren and 22
great grandchildren. Two sons, Floyd and Ward, are deceased.
Services were held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Dale United Methodist Church with teh Rev. Zina Bennett officiating. Burial
was in the Dale Cemetery Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton, was in charge of the services.
