OLD SOLDIER GOES TO REST ---
PERLEY ERVANS, IN HIS 84TH YEAR, AT MIDLAND ---
FORMERLY OF GLADWIN
The Midland Republican says: "At the age of 83
years, 7 months, 29 days, Perley Ervans, one of the
defenders of the American Union, died at the home of
his son, John Ervans, Ashman street, Tuesday, Feb. 19,
of senility. "The funeral was held at the home,
attended by Oddfellows and members of Dwight May Post,
G.A.R., of which organization he was a member,
Religious services by Rev. J. A. Yoeman of the
Methodist church. "Comrade Ervans served in a New York
regiment. He had lived in Midland perhaps 30 years,
having come here from Gladwin. "This issue of the
Republican contains accounty of the death of two of
the old soldiers whose ranks are constantly thinning.
We cannot forget their great service."
