Harvey Emrick
Harvey T. Emrick, 76, of Gladwin, passed away at his home, 315 S. Arcade St.,
Thursday, January 10. Born January 25, 1897, in Paulding County, Ohio, he was the son of George
and Elizabeth Blank Emrick, and came to Gladwin County in 1906. He and the former Ethel Fries
were married January 21, 1920, in Gladwin. Mr. Emrick owned and operated the Parkhill Flower Shop
and Greenhouse from 1933 to 1952. He also served as sexton of Highland Cemetery for several years.
Prior to that he was earlier employed at various times as freight clerk at the railroad station,
at Wolohan's Elevator, W. E. Woodward Lumber & Supply Store, Oglestone's Hardware, and Huber's
Dairy. Mr. Emrick was a member of the volunteer fire department from 1926 to 1956, a number of
those years as fire chief. He also was a former city supervisor and alderman for several terms.
A veteran of World War I, he was a member of WWI Barracks No. 3421, and of the Gladwin First
United Methodist Church.
