Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Clifford Emrick

   Clifford Dean Emrick, 77, of Midland passed away peacefully late Tuesday evening Aug. 14, 2007 at his home from congestive heart failure and cancer, surrounded by his family. He was born on Nov. 11, 1929 in Gladwin, son of the late Harvey and Ethel (Fries) Emrick.

   Cliff married Martha Shultz on Aug. 27, 1949 in Gladwin. They moved to Midland in 1953 where he worked for Stan Bobbit and Jack and Jim Harvey setting up doublewide mobile homes. Later Cliff worked for Shorty’s Wrecker Service as a mechanic. Cliff then started his own business known as Precision Service. He spent many years self employed while repairing motor homes. He retired in 2005 due to poor health.

   Cliff enjoyed fishing and canoeing in Canada. He also enjoyed cheering on his favorite football teams, the University of Michigan Wolverines and the Detroit Lions in addition to his love for Nascar. He especially enjoyed Wednesday night poker games with his granddaughter Lisa.

   Cliff is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha; four children, Duane (Karin) Emrick of Ocklawaha, Florida, Dennis Emrick of Midland, Linda (Mike) Hackett of Midland, and Deana (Duncan) Wallace also of Midland. He leaves nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren; also surviving are brothers, Lyle (Ethal) Emrick of Gladwin, Warren (Sue) Emrick of Lansing, and one sister, Elaine Lambert of Yuma, Arizona. In addition to his parents, Cliff was predeceased by one sister, Ruth Latimore and infant brother, Duane.

   A private family graveside committal service was at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007 at Ridge Cemetery in Gladwin. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider MidMichigan Hospice, the American Heart Association or Cancer Research.
