WAYNE ELLIS
Wayne Ellis, 85, of Gladwin, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001 at the Gladwin Pines Nursing Home, Gladwin, following a long illness.
Born Sept. 4, 1915, in Gladwin, he was the son of Rae and Minnie (Klein) Ellis. He was a lifetime resident of Gladwin County.
Wayne married the former Elenor A. Breault, Oct. 8, 1936 in Gladwin. He was a farmer, and owned and operated the Centennial Farm on Wagarville Rd. He also worked as a machine operator for 10 years at Gladwin Manufacturing, retiring in 1981.
Wayne served in many capacities as clerk, treasurer, and trustee for Gladwin Township for 46 years.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Wendell and wife Rose, and Kenneth, all of Gladwin; one daughter-in-law, Marilyn Ellis of Gladwin; grandchildren, Cheri and Jeff Lake, and Kevin and Denice Ellis, all of Gladwin, Julie Payton of Mt. Pleasant, and Vicki and Mike Schwan of Bear Lake; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael John Ellis in 1993; and his parents.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin, with Rev. Timothy Verity officiating. Burial was in McClure Cemetery in Gladwin. .
