Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Helen Eckelbarger

   Helen M. (Brabon) Eckelbarger, 94, of Gladwin passed away Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006 at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility.

   Helen was born Aug. 26, 1911 in Napoleon, Ohio to the late Merlin and Rose (Rowan) Durham. She came to Michigan as a child. She married Fred Brabon on Sept. 5, 1928 in Flint. Fred passed away in December 1966. After Fred’s death, Helen met and married Lawrence Eckelbarger on Feb. 15, 1969 in Beaverton. Lawrence passed away in January 1971. She lived in Gladwin County most of her life and at Maple Manor from 1975 to 2003. She was a member of the Beaverton Church of the Nazarene.

   She is survived by two sons, Ralph (Fran) Brabon of Port Charlotte, Florida, and Ron (Pauline) Brabon of Beaverton; three daughters, Joyce (Jim) Clevenger of Allegan, Dorothy Graham of Farwell, and Sharon (Dave) Craig of San Diego, California; one daughter-in-law, Wanda Brabon of Beaverton; sister-in-law, Marie Brabon of Fort Myers, Florida; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and step children, Annabelle McCartney of Bluffton, Indiana, David Eckelbarger of Unionville, Indiana, Barbara Davison of Unionville, Indiana, Joyce Green of Markel, Indiana, Nancy and Rubin Adams of Beaverton, and Marilyn Lahr of Florida. She was predeceased by one son, Frederick (Bud); four grandchildren, three brothers, three sisters, and a son-in-law, John.

   Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Beaverton Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Mark Moore and Rev. Jerry Wells officiated and burial was in Highland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. Sisson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
