Asa B. Durkee
AN OLD RESIDENT CALLED TO HIS REWARD
Asa B. Durkee died Monday, Aug. 28, aged 77 years.
Mr. Durkee had been a resident of the county many
years. He was an old soldier and pensioner. He was
held in high esteem by all. He leaves a daughter, Mrs.
Matthew Loomis of Beaverton. For the last year he had
been blind.
Funeral services were held Tuesday and interment
took place in Gladwin township cemetery. Rev. F. C.
Crandall officiated. The pall bearers were members of
G.A.R. as follows: Comrades VanValkenburg, Rowley,
Phelps, Morgan, Laveck and Robinson. Mrs. Phelps
showed tender thoughtfulness in sending a nice wreath
of flowers.
