Joesph Durham
Joseph (Port) Durham, 67, of 750 Stickel Rd., Gladwin, died suddenly Sunday,
July 26, at his home. Born in Barton City Jan. 18, 1920, he had spent most of his life in Gladwin
County. Mr. Durham was an electrician for Down Chemical Co. and a veteran of World War II. He was
a member of the Gladwin Baptist Church. Mr. Durham and the former Jeanne VanBocxlaer were married
Sept. 9, 1967, in Gladwin.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 3 sons, Douglas Hall of Mattawan, Kevin Hawley of Sterling
Heights and Alan Hawley of Gladwin; 2 daughters, Derry (Karen) Breault of Gladwin and Mrs. Richard
(Sandy) Deuster, of Hubertus, Wisc.; 2 sisters, Helen Eckelbarger of Gladwin and Marion Shepherd of
East Jordan; and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Services were held today, Wednesday, at 11 a.m. from the Gladwin Baptist Church. The Rev. Jerry
Locher officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church.
Arrangements were in charge of the Sisson-Mathews Funeral Home.
