James Dundas
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Dale Methodist Church for James Gordon Dundas, 71, who died suddenly
Friday at his home in Tobacco Township after a heart attack. The Rev. Gordon Showers officiated and burial was in the Dale
Cemetery. A lifetime resident of Gladwin County, he was born in Tobacco Township on July 12, 1892. A surveyor, he was married
to the former Lula Snyder on Oct. 27, 1915, in Gladwin. He was a member of Beaverton F.&A.M. Lodge No 457.
Mr. Dundas was well-known throughout the county by his work as a surveyor, and with Mrs. Dundas he had operated the Dundas
Corners Store for many years. He was in the store at the time of his death. In 1961, he served as general chairman for the
Gladwin County First Settler Centennial Celebration.
Surviving are his wife, Lula; three sons, Richard, of Beaverton, Robert, of St. Clair, and Bruce, of Hope; a daughter, Mrs.
Maxine Kintner of Gladwin; three sisters, Mrs. Julia Cartridge, of Toledo and Mrs. Agnes Greer and Mrs. Alma Peterson of
Flint; and a brother Jack of Flint. A daughter, Marjorie McKimmy, preceded him in death Nov. 16, 1942.
