Mary A. Dumont
MARY A. DUMONT
Mrs. Mary A. Dumont, mother of Benjamin F. Dumont,
of this township, died Sept. 21, at her home, 705
Washington avenue, Bay City. Mrs. Dumont had been a
widow for many years. She made her home with her
youngest son, Lieut. Charles Dumont, who went to Cuba
with Co. C. of the 33rd regiment.
Mrs. Dumont was born on Oct. 16, 1829, in the town
of Allen, N.Y. She was married in September, 1839, to
Andrew A. Dumont, and from the union were born five
children, Mrs. Jennie Van Dyke, Benjamin F. Dumont, A.
J. Dumont, William A. and Charles H. Dumont, who are
all living.
Mother Dumont, as she was called by her friends,
had her share of trouble and suffering. Some seven
years ago, by accident, she had one hip broken. One
year ago she was stricken with paralysis and was
obliged to be helped to and from her invalid chair
ever after. She was taken to her old home in Calhoun
county for burial..
