Raymond Downing
Raymond Luther Downing, 81, of Harrison, formerly of Holly, passed away Dec. 24, 2005 at MidMichigan Regional Medical Center- Clare.
He was born the son of Arthur J. and Leota May (Sanders) Downing on April 13, 1924 in Union Township.
Ray wed June Zoe Dalby on March 12, 1942 in Goodrich. He served honorably in the Army Air Force during WWII. Mr. Downing and family have resided in Harrison since 1953, coming from Holly.
He owned and operated Land of Lakes Motel for 28 years and worked with Lipovsky Builders for many years as a masonry finisher. Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing Euchre, and watching basketball and football. Ray leaves behind his loving wife, June; one son, Michael (Janet) Downing of Beaverton; two daughters, Carolyn Douglas (Don Rapson) of Linwood and Linda (Blaine) Brooks of Harrison; nine grandchildren; six Great-grandchildren; one Great-great-grandson; and one niece, Nora Jean DelAguaro of Northport, Florida. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lamoyne Bontekoe.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005 at 1 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Pittman officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Plains Cemetery in Harrison.
