Mrs. Oscar R. Dow

MRS. OSCAR R. DOW {HELEN (DOLLOFF) DOW}
COUNTY PIONEER PASS EIGHTY-EIGHTH BIRTHDAY

  Mrs. O. R. Dow, formerly of Gladwin and now of Bad Axe, celebrated her 88th birthday last Wednesday. Although she now lives in Bad Axe, Mrs. Dow is well-known in Gladwin, where she lived until five years ago when her husband was hurt in an auto accident and they moved to the southern part of the state to live with their son, Bert L. Dow.

  Mr. and Mrs. Dow came to Michigan from Maine more than 70 years ago. Mr. Dow cleared much land in Gladwin county and eventuall settled with his wife on a farm in Grout township which for years was a halfway stop for the Gladwin-Loomis stage coach line which Mr. Dow operated for many years.

  The picture which appears in connection with this article is a recent one. Mrs. Dow is still able to care for herself and enjoys hearing from her old neighbors and friends.
