James Dow

FORMER COUNTY RESIDENT DIES

   James J. Dow, 83, former resident of Gladwin county, died on Wednesday, June 4, in Toledo, Ohio. He was born on March 22, 1875, in Tobacco township, which at that time was a part of Billings township, the son of James and Julia Dow, early pioneers of Gladwin county.

   Mr. Dow lived here until 1908 and served as county surveyor for a few years. Since leaving he had lived in Detroit and Toledo where he was engaged in the building business. Surviving are his wife Emma; and two daughters, Mrs. Ida Mae Oakley, of Flint, and Miss Anna Jay Dow, of Wyandotte. Two sisters, Mrs. James Dundas-and Mrs. John Rich, and a half brother, Vallie Knox, preceded him in death.
