Rita Dodge

   Rita L. Dodge, 59, passed away April 16, 2006 after a long illness at MidMichigan Medical Center, Midland. Rita was born August 17, 1946 to Rev. Robert L. and Evelyn Joan (Hurrell) Kaake in Flint. She was an elementary teacher at Bentley Community Schools in Burton, Mich. She retired in 1995 after being employed there for 25 years.

   Rita spent the last 21 years of her life in Gladwin County; she previously lived in Flint. Rita took part in many organizations including St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Gladwin; Daughter's of the King, Episcopal Cursillo, and Kiwanis Club, Beaverton; Church of God & Christ the King Quilter's Group; and Heart of Michigan Animal Rescue.She married Patrick Dodge April 29, 1967 in Lapeer. She is survived by her husband Patrick, of Gladwin; one daughter, Michelle Donigan, of Grand Blanc; one son, Sgt. Robert (Melanie) Dodge, of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren, Alexandria, Mara and Emma; one brother, James Kaake, of Flint; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Rita is predeceased by her parents.

   Memorial services will be held Wednesday April 19, 2006 at 3 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 211 E. Cedar Ave., Gladwin. Rev. Mary Jo Schuetz will be officiating. A gathering will begin from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
