Harry S. Dickerson
RITES FOR FIRST VETERAN FRI.
BODY OF COUNTY VETERAN RETURNED HERE MONDAY
Services for the first Gladwin county veteran to be brought home from his grave overseas was to be held on Friday afternoon, November 28 at two o'clock. Pfc. Harry S. Dickerson, son of Mary Jane Good, of Nester township, was killed in action October 9, 1944, in Germany. He was born in Livingston county on June 11, 1918 and prior to his induction was employed as a farmhand in the county.
Surviving are his mother; two brothers, George Dickerson, of Howell, Elmer Dickerson of Flint; three sisters, Mrs. Lovina London? of Big Rapids, Mrs. Dan Easlick and Mrs. Harold Ostrander of Gladwin; three half-brothers, Lorenzo, Grover and Rodger Co? at home; two half-sisters, Margaret and Janet Cook at home.
The body of Pfc. Dickerson arrived in New York last month along with others shipped form Europe. It was brought to the Hall Funeral Home, where it will lie in state until the time of the funeral on Friday afternoon. The Rev. Frederick Starr from the Butman Church of the Brethren will officiate and services will be under the auspices of the military organizations in the county. Burial will be in the Butman cemetery. .
