Charles Dicken
ILLNESS FATAL TO CHARLES DICKEN
Charles L. Dicken, 57, of Gladwin, died Friday, Jan. 8, at the Gladwin Area Hospital
following a long illness. Born in Toledo, Ohio, on Oct. 16, 1913, he had spent his life-time
in Gladwin County. Mr. Dicken was a former State Highway Department employee and later was
employed by Sun Oil Company for 28 years. He also taught several years in the rural schools.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and the Gladwin Eagles No. 3292. He and the former
Elsie White were married on June 27, 1935, in Gladwin.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Patricia Cambridge of Royal Oak,
Mrs. Carol Clark of Gladwin, Mrs. Nancy Allen of Saginaw, and Rebecca at home; four sons,
Charles Jr. of Davison, Franklin, Albert and Mike, of Gladwin; two brothers, Francis and Clarence,
of Gladwin; one sister, Mrs. Helen Cox, of Beaverton; and 11 grandchildren.
Services were held Monday at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. Father Edward
Trombley officiated and burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. A rosary was said Sunday at 8 p.m.
in the Hall Funeral Home.
