Aaron C. Deremer
Aaron C. DeRemer, a former resident of Gladwin, who
died at his home at Stevenson lake, near Clare, May
28, was aged 70 years and 11 months. He had suffered a
long illness with parlysis and bronchial trouble,
having been confined to his bed since January. Funeral
was conducted at his home by Rev. G. W. Maxwell of
Clare, and a delegation from Clare and Farwell F. & A.
M. lodges attended, a rendering Masonic honors at the
burial in Farewell cemetery. Floral offerings were
many.
Mr. DeRemer was born in Vienna, New Jersey, and
came to Davisburg, Oakland county, at the age of 30.
He went to Harrison in 1882, residing there a number
of years, then in Gladwin a few years, going from
here, 15 years ago, to Stevenson lake, where he
resided until his death. He served in the construction
corps of the Union army during the Civil war, and
participated in a number of important engagements. Mr.
DeRemer followed the occupation of carpenter and
builder, in which he was very proficient, until his
advanced years prevented further work in this line.
His wife, three sons and one daughter survive: John
and M. C. of Bay City, George of Pinconning, and Mrs.
W. Clark of Davisburg, besides Gladys, an adopted
daughter, at home.
