Ellen H. Demaray
Ellen H. Demaray, 89, of Cass City and formerly of Gladwin, died Saturday, Sept. 8, in the Provincial House Nursing Home,
Cass City, following a long illness.
Born in Newaygo County May 5, 1895, she came to Gladwin in 1907. She was a school teacher and taught in the Leatonville,
Winegars and Hockaday schools until retiring in 1960.
The former Ellen Frye, she was married to Earl Shell Oct. 8, 1914, in West Branch. He died Oct. 4, 1951. She then married
Frank Demaray June 5, 1955 in Gladwin.
Besides her husband, she is survived by 2 sons, Robert Shell of Brooksville, Fla. And William Shell of Holiday, Fla.; 3
daughters, Mrs. Gilbert (Gladys) Albee of Cass City, Mrs. Edison (Lucille) Shepherd and Mrs. John (Tresa) Pangborn of
Midland; 2 step-children, Jack Demaray of Seminole, Fla. And Mrs. Robert (Coralee) Roof of Houghton Lake; one brother, Harold
Frye of Burt; one sister, Mrs. Edith Edick of Punta Gorda, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and one great
great grandchild.
Services were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. The Rev. R. E. Fogelsonger officiated and
burial was in the Ridge Cemetery.
