Harold DeHate Sr.
Harold J. DeHate Sr., 78, of Beaverton, died Aug. 23, 2005 at his residence. He was born on May 23, 1927 in Pinconning, son of the late Paul and Agnes (Guerin) DeHate. He served in the Merchant Marines, Coast Guard and in the Army during World War II and was honorably discharged. Harold worked at General Motors as a patternmaker for 34 years. He was a devout Catholic who attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pinconning. He was a devoted husband and father. He will be missed by many.
Surviving are his four children, Michele Walker, Rebecca DeHate both of Millington, Shirley Black of Riverview, Florida, Harold John DeHate Jr. of Essexville; sisters, Carol Henry Flood, Margaret Bumgarner both of Linwood, Marcella Ambroziak of Detroit; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and special friend, Mary Grace Wilcox of Beaverton. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Aug. 27 from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pinconning. Rev. Father Joseph Miller will officiate. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Arrangements were by the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, Midland.
