Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Wayne Dawson

   Wayne Donald Dawson, age 84, of St. Louis, Michigan died on Friday, June 23, 2006 at Schnepp Healthcare Center, St. Louis, Michigan. Wayne was born in Harrison on May 3, 1922. He is the son of Alva and Mary Irene (Bruce) Dawson. He graduated from Gladwin High School in 1940 and grew up in Gladwin until moving to St. Louis 50 years ago.

   On December 15,1947 he married Joyce Smith in Kentucky. Wayne retired in 1984 from Consolidated Freightways, and had an avid interest in cars, and yard work. He loved his family and time spent in Florida. He enjoyed visiting and sharing stories with friends and neighbors and was a member of St. Louis Church of Christ, St. Louis. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a proud World War II veteran.

   Survivors include his wife, Joyce Dawson of St. Louis; three children, Steven and Kathleen Dawson of Leonard, Michigan, Deborah and Tom Ducham of Clare, Tim and Cyd Dawson of East Lansing; four grandchildren, Joshua Dawson, Ben Dawson, Michael Ducham, Stacy and Paul Smith; two Great-grandchildren, Ethan and Jonah Smith; two sisters, Ruth VanHorn of Ithaca and Nola and Lyle McVay of Tampa, Florida; and a brother, Maurice and Virginia Dawson of St. Louis. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Margaret and a brother Robert.

   Funeral services were held at St. Louis Church of Christ on Monday, June 26, 2006. Mr. Keith Wise officiated and burial was at Spencer Cemetery, Crystal Township, Michigan.
