Joe Dawson
Joe Dawson, 87, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2007 in Sun City, Arizona.
Joe was a resident of Beaverton from 1962 to 1976 Joe was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner. He was a member of the Lions Club for over 40 years, joining the Beaverton Lions club in the 1960s, most recently a member of the Sun City Mid-week Lions Club. He served as a District Governor of Lions in Michigan in 1972.
During his life, Joe was a master machinist and built tanks during World War II at Electromotive in Illinois. He was a shop floor manager at Brown Machine during his residence in Beaverton.
Joe was a gentle man with a great sense of humor who made friends easily.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Sara Dove Dawson. He is survived by one son, Doug (Sue) of Colorado; two daughters, Peg Dawson of Indiana and Donna (Eldon) McIntyre of Oklahoma; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate his life was held at Willowbrook United Methodist Church in Sun City July 5, 2007. In lieu of flowers, the family is encouraging memorials to the Lions Sight First II project through the Beaverton Lions Club .
