Virginia Culy

MADILL


  Virginia Culy was born at Newport, Virginia, July 24, 1854. When about 2 years of age she moved with her parents to Hamilton, Canada, where they remained until she was 9 years of age, when they moved to Port Huron, where she lived until Oct. 26, 1874, when she was united in marriage to Henry A. Madill, and they went to Fort Suly, Dakato, and followed the army until 1877, returning to Port Huron where they resided until 1879, then moving to Grout township, Gladwin county, where they resided until two years ago,when they came to Gladwin city where she died Nov. 4, 1915.

  She was the mother of six children, five of whom survive her, Annie Walker, Adelia Phillips, Josephine Brubaker, Walter Madill, all of Gladwin, and Alice Baumgardner of Saginaw. They were all present at her bedside together with the four sons-in-law and daughter-in-law; and she called them one after another and bade them goodbye and passed away with a smile on her face.

  Gone from our midst to reap her due reward, Is that loved mother who was to us so dear, Gone up on high to meet her risen Lord. And stand before him without sense of fear.

  Services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. H. Cornelius. Interment in Highland cemetery. The church was filled to overflowing with friends to pay their last respects to the departed and in autos they formed a long prosession to the cemetery..
