Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Aubrey Culp

   Aubrey (Curley) Culp, 87, of Beaverton passed away at the Gladwin Pines Nursing Home on Oct. 23, 2005 after a long illness.

   Mr. Culp was born July 28, 1918 in Dunville, Ontario, Canada to Roy Culp and Pheobe Frost. He became a U.S. citizen on April 15, 1942. He was married for 69 years to Lillian Banks who predeceased him in 1999.

   Mr. Culp served in the U.S. Navy, Pacific Theater, during World War II. One of his duties was as an underwater demolition team specialist. He saw combat in the Philippines, Saipan, Guam and Okinawa. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 17, 1945. Mr. Culp retired from AC Spark Plug Division of GM in Flint in 1983 where he was a millwright for many years. In his late years, he was active in obedience dog training and judging throughout the Midwest and Eastern regions of the U.S.

   Mr. Culp is survived by sons and daughters, John (Darlene) Culp of Clio, Aubrey “Sam” (Mary Catherine) Culp of Beaverton, Ethel (Matthew) Wilbur of Lewiston, and Dianna Banks of Beaverton; his sister, Anise Palmer of Bancroft; and numerous grandchildren, Great grandchildren and Great great grandchildren. His parents, two brothers and a sister predecease him.

   Funeral services will be private. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the Mid Michigan Gladwin Pines or Hospice of Midland.
