Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Floyd Crockett

   Floyd E. Crockett, 87, of Midland passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007.

   Floyd was born Dec. 2, 1920 in Beaverton to P.G. and Bertha (Rise) Crockett.

   He graduated from Beaverton High School. He farmed in Beaverton until 1946 when he went to work for Dow Chemical. He retired as a master craftsman from the machine shop after 30 years of service. As a hobby, Floyd grew and sold Christmas trees for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing for many years and always had a good garden and enjoyed the cottage at Blue Lake.

   He was an avid Tigers baseball fan and was a member of the Coleman Masonic Lodge #427 F & A.M.

   Floyd married Ruth Ogg on April 6, 1946 in Gladwin. They had four children; a son and a daughter died in infancy. Their son is David (Debbie) Crockett of Rochester Hills, Michigan and their daughter is Jill (William) DeCoe of Beaverton. He had three grandchildren, Mark, Christopher and Kimberly and a step-grandson, Matthew Van Gelder. Floyd is predeceased by two sisters, Helen and Viola; and six brothers, Jacob, Albert, Marion, Homer, Roger and Paul.

   Services were held Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007 at Sisson Funeral Home in Gladwin. Pastor Patrick Poag, from the Hope United Methodist Church where Floyd was a member, officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery in Gladwin.

   Masonic service was held Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007.
