Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Duane Cook

   Duane Cook, 82, of Gladwin passed away March 4, 2008 at Tender Care Nursing Home in Mt. Pleasant following a short illness.

   He was born in Ingersoll Township on March 8, 1925 to Hudson Glen and Florence (Brown) Cook.

   Duane was retired as foreman of Instrument Tech Department for Dow Chemical. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in WWII. He lived in Gladwin County for 31 years, previously residing in Midland.

   He was a member of VFW Post 11256, founder of Gladwin Area Walleye Association, served as post commander of VFW Post #11256 from 1998-2000, member of Sugar Springs Lakes Committee, past president of Sugar Springs Property Owners Association, past president of Sugar Springs Golf Association, professional archer and charter member of Mid Michee Bowman Club in Midland. He also taught several children how to shoot a bow, was a little league coach and an avid fisherman and bow hunter, as well as a great wild life artist.

   Duane married Wanita Mary Wylie Aug. 23, 1947 in Auburn. She preceded him in death in 2007.

   He is survived by his daughters, Karen (Mark) Weber of Bloomfield Hills, Glenna (Stephen) MacDonald of Holt, and Brenda (Bob) Hove of Ithaca; son, Steven (Susan) Cook of Farmington; eight grandchildren, Jill, Kristen, Amy, Christopher, Neil, Kevin, Steven and Amanda; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Ella; sister, Donna Roberts of Midland; and brother, Terry (Phyllis) Cook of Gladwin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanita; parents; and sister, Betty Ducham.

   Funeral services were held March 8, 2008 at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin with Pastor Linda Jo Powers officiating. He was laid to rest in Midland City Cemetery. Special services were performed by VFW Post #11256.
