Stephen Colbeck
PROMINENT RESIDENT PASSES AWAY
Stephen R. Colbeck, 872, resident of Billings township, passed away on Monday evening at a Traverse City Hospital, following
several months illness. Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Dale Methodist Church. The
Rev. Larry Grubaugh will officiate ad burial will be made in the Billings cemetery.
Mr. Colbeck was born in Esses, Ontario, Canada, on October 19, 1880. He came to Gladwin county in 1881 with his parents and
was married in Beaverton on September 19, 1904, to Miss Alice Wilder. They have lived on a farm in Billings township since
that time.
Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Mildred Leunberger of Billings, Mrs. Olive Ockerman and Mrs. Edna Dicken, of
Gladwin, and Mrs. Asal Gill of Midland; one brother, Hugh Colbeck, of Midland county; three sister, Mrs. Helen Kent of
Billings, Mrs. Anna Sterling of Beavertn and Mrs. Nina Fox of Milwaukee; also 14 grandchildren. One son preceded his father
in death. Mr. Colbeck's nephews will act as pallbearers.
