FRANK COLBECK DIES FOLLOWING OPERATION
Frank Colbeck died October 16, at St. Mary's hospital, Saginaw, following an operation for goitre. Funeral services were held
at the home at Beaverton Thursday, Oct. 19, at 3 p.m. conducted by Rev. Perry Hoover. Burial was at Billings cemetery. Mr.
Colbeck, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Colbeck, was born February 3, 1862, in Oxford county, Ontarion, came to Gladwin county
with his parents in 1880, settled in Billings township, where he lived until he retired from farming 12 years ago, and moved
to Beaverton where he has since lived.
He married Miss Minnie Blanchard in 1890. Five children, Earl and Anna of Billings township, Hazel of Coral Gables, Florida,
Herman of Beaverton and Stephen of Saginaw, were born to them. Surviving him are his widow, his five children, 14
grandchildren, four sisters and two brothers. Two brothers and two sisters preceding him in death.
Colbeck served several years as supervisor of the second ward at Beaverton, and was filling the office at the time of his
death. He was active in civil and social affairs during his residence in Billings township where he was a prosperous farmer
until he retired owing to failing health.
