Gay Cohoon
GAY COHOON
Gay Cohoon, 105, of Beaverton, died Saturday, March 17, 2001 at the Gladwin Pines Nursing Home in Gladwin following a long illness.
Born Nov. 25, 1895 in Bowling Green County, Ohio, he was the son of James and Sarah (Hitchcock) Cohoon. Gay married Bessie (Stuhr), June 30, 1923 in Rhodes. She preceded him in death in 1994. He lived in Gladwin County since 1962 and previously lived in Flint. He was a tool and die designer for General Motors in Flint, retiring in 1960 after 35 years. He was also a veteran.
Surviving are four sons, Stewart and wife Dorothy of Fortuna, Calif., Elliott and wife Shirley of Frankenmuth, Eugene and wife Zelma of Sault St Marie, and Donald and wife Maria of Midland; one daughter, Virginia Evans of Beaverton; 21 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Grace Cohoon of Port Huron; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, James; one great-granddaughter, Madison; one son-in-law, Morris Evans; one daughter-in-law, Evelyn Colosky; two brothers; and three sisters.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton, with Joe White officiating. Burial will be in Beaverton Cemetery. .
