Stephen Codling
RITES THURSDAY FOR STEPHEN CODLING
Stephen A. Codling, 78, a retired farmer, died Monday after an illness of several months. Born January 9, 1878 in Ontario,
Canada, he went to North Dakota with his parents at the age of four and lived here until coming to Michigan when he was 26
years old, purchasing a farm in Gladwin Township. He had been a resident of Gladwin county for over 50 years and was a member
of the McClure Methodist Church.
Surviving Mr. Codling are his wife, Winnie May; three sons, Floyd of Harrison, Harold of Pontiac and Rollin of Corpus
Christi, Texas; and three daughters, Mrs. Adeline Kern of Gladwin, Mrs. Ida May Stellmacher of Midland and Miss Helen Codling
of Sebewaing; one brother, George of Clare county; three sisters, Mrs. Edith Chatterton of Gladwin, Mrs. Gertrude Slater of
Midland, and Mrs. Bertha Huffman of Belding; also 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at the Miner Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. Officiating clergyman will be the Rev. Ivan
Hodgson of Northville. Burial will be in the McClure cemetery with Harvey Klein, Harley Klein, Charles Hoskinson, Wayne
Ellis, Ward Klein and Orlay Klein acting as pallbearers.
