Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
Florence Clark

   Florence A. Clark, 92, passed away Dec. 2, 2007 in DeWitt. She was born Oct. 28, 1915 to Earl and Elna Wood near Olivet, Michigan.

   She attended a one-room rural school house through the eighth grade, then graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1933 and Lansing Business University in 1937.

   Florence was married to Wayne W. Clark on Jan. 1, 1938 and they lived in Lansing until retiring to their lake home in Gladwin County in 1973.

   She retired from the Michigan Department of Education. She enjoyed homemaking, reading, travel, watercolor painting, and camping with their children and grandchildren. For more than 20 years after retirement, she was an officer and active volunteer in the Gladwin County Historical Society. In 1997 she moved to DeWitt to be nearer to her family. Her husband preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1986. She was a member of Redeemer United Methodist Church in DeWitt.

   She is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Jack) West of Holland and Susan (Henry) Wieferich of DeWitt; grandchildren, Timothy West of Grand Rapids, Ellen (Tom) Jenkins of Goshen, Kentucky, Eric (Tricia) Wieferich of DeWitt, Shelly (Lee) Gullett of Grandville, Bradley (Michelle) Wieferich of DeWitt; great-grandchildren, Ben and Emily Jenkins, Erin, Ryan, Jenna, Nicklaus, Jacob and Luke Wieferich, and Allison, Joseph and Robert Gullet; one sister, Jean Bolinger of Marshall; one sister-in-law, Peg Wood of Alabama; one brother, David Johnston of Kalamazoo; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

   The funeral service was held Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007 at Redeemer United Methodist Church in DeWitt with the Pastor Rodney Kalajainen officiating. Interment was at Deepdale Memorial Park.
