VETERAN DIES AT DAUGHTER'S HOME

EDGAR LUCIAS CHIDSEY, FORMERLY OF GLADWIN,
DIES AFTER SEVERAL YEARS' ILLNESS


   The following clipping from a recent issue of Mishawaka (Ind) paper gives us news of the death of Mr. Chidsey, a former well-known resident of Gladwin. "Edgar Lucius Chidsey, a veteran of the Civil war, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harvey Williams, northeast of the city, Saturday morning at 9:30 o'clock, after several years illness. Death was due to complications.
   "Mr. Chidsey was born in Farmington, Conn., Dec. 19, 1842, and was nearly 73 years old. He was married to Miss Jane R. McGuffe at Hartford, Conn., July 5, 1867. Mr. Chidsey was a member of the Seventeenth Connecticut infantry and served four years in the Civil war. He came to Mishawaka about nine years ago from Gladwin, Mich.
   "He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Edna Garver and Mrs. Harvey Williams, at whose home he died; three brothers, Frank Hial and William Chidsey, all of Farmington, Conn. "The funeral will be held from the Williams residence, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and will be in charge of the Houghton Post, G.A.R., of which Mr. Chidsey was a member.
