Will Caviness
Will R. Caviness, 73, of Harrison, died Friday, April 4, in the Clare Community
Hospital after a long illness. Born in Dimondale, Nov. 26, 1912, he moved to Harrison in 1977 from
Wayne. Mr. Caviness was a paper handler for the Detroit Free Press for 45 years until retiring in
1977. He served in the Army during World War II. Mr. Caviness and the former Helen Boxey were
married in 1933 in Gladwin. She died April 29, 1975. He then married May Diehl Dec. 26, 1976, in
Detroit.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 3 sons, William of Orlando, Fla., Steven of Cedar Rapids, Iowa
and Thomas of Brooksville, Fla.; 2 daughters, Mrs. William (Nancy) Rentier of Monks Corner, S.C. and Mrs.
Dennis (Mary) Dewyer of Inkster; one sister, Mrs. Kathryn Nichols of Brooksville, Fla.; 27 grandchildren
and 11 great grandchildren. The body was cremated.
