William Caufield
William J. Caufield, 81, of Alger died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007 at his home after a long illness.
He was born Jan. 19, 1925 to John and Margaret (Kirkland) Caufield in Highland Park William was a security guard at Great Lakes National Steel in Riverview. He retired in 1991.
He was a United States Navy veteran, having served in World War II. He was a member of Legionnaires and Veterans of Foreign Wars - Skidway Lake. William lived in Gladwin County for 11 years.
Surviving are niece, Betty Grose-Krider and family of Alger; Ray Aiken and family; Jerry Aiken; Larry Aiken and family; Nancy Allen and family; all nieces and nephews living in Alger and Gladwin; Joan Hester and family; Don LaScott and family; Sharon LaScott and family; Carol LaScott and family; and all nieces and nephews living in Detroit, Harbor Beach and Bad Axe. He is predeceased by three sisters, Florence S. Aiken on Nov. 2, 2003, Margaret LaScott in 2004, and Helen Caufield in 1927; and one brother, John Caufield Jr. in 1941.
A private service for family will be held at a later date Memorial contributions may be made to MidMichigan Hospice and Visiting Nurse Association.
