Ernest Carnahan
Ernest N. Carnahan, 83, of Gladwin, died Saturday, Feb. 17, in the Gladwin Area
Hospital following a long illness. Born in Gladwin on April 5, 1895, he had spent his lifetime
in Gladwin County. Mr. Carnahan was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Veterans of World
War I, Gladwin Barracks 3421. He retired in 1961 from the Gladwin County Road Commission. He and
the former Esther Durham were married on December 18, 1954, in Gladwin.
Surviving besides his wife, are 3 sons, Daniel of Clio, Dale of Seattle, Wash., and Charles of
St. Charles; one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Fern) Prentice of Meredith; one brother, Ray of Gladwin, 2
sisters, Mrs. Maude Basner of Flint and Mrs. Ethel Dennings of Gladwin; 8 grandchildren; 15 great
grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. Elder Sam Asch
officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery.
