Gladys Carman
Gladys I. (Durfee) Carman, 88, of Gladwin passed away Monday, July 16, 2007 at MidMichigan Medical Center- Gladwin.
Gladys was born Oct. 7, 1918 in Mercer County, Ohio to Percy and Florence (Everette) Butler She was married to Robert Durfee in 1934, and then was married to Leland Carman in August 1957. Leland passed away in 1986.
She moved to Gladwin in 1968 from Freeland, retiring from Saginaw Steering Gear.
Gladys was a member of the American Legion Post #171 Ladies Auxiliary and the Blue Star Mothers since 1989.
Surviving are one daughter, Dorothy (Larry) Shuart of Gladwin; five sons, William (Norma) Durfee of Point Blank, Texas, James (Linda) Durfee of Luzerne, Delbert (Nina) Durfee of Wiggins, Mississippi, Samuel (Mary) Durfee of Sanford, and Charles (Renee’) Carman of Gladwin; two stepdaughters, Juanita Padoba of St. Charles and Eunice Smith of Beaverton; 124 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Butler of Texas; and one sister, Ruby Jones of Oklahoma. One daughter, Patricia Farison; and one son, Robert Durfee, Jr., predecease Gladys.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2007 at Sisson Funeral Home. Pastor James Durfee will officiate and burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Gladwin. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, July 19.
Memorials may be made to Blue Star Mothers.
