Ray Cantrell
Ray J. Cantrell, 62, of 4849 Ziemer Rd., Gladwin, died suddenly at his
home Saturday morning, June 25. Born in Salem, S.C., Aug. 15, 1925, he moved to Gladwin
County in 1979 from Garden City. Mr. Cantrell was a body finisher for Ford Motor Co. and
a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Wayne, the Road Rangers
of Taylor and president of the Buckeye Hunting Club, Gladwin. Mr. Cantrell was married to
the former Irene Traxler in Seneca, S.C.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Dennis of Gladwin; 3 brothers, Earle, Ralph
and Lester of South Carolina; 3 sisters, Fay Allen, Edna Parker and June Cantrell of South
Carolina; and 2 grandsons. Services were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the Sisson-Mathews
Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Brown officiated and burial was in the Ridge Cemetery.
