Gertrude Campbell
Gertrude L. Campbell, 85, of Gladwin passed away Monday, Dec. 3, 2007 at MidMichigan Gladwin Pines.
She was born Feb. 21, 1922 in Gladwin Township to Bert and Julia (Chilson) Fackler. Gertrude married Clair Campbell on June 25, 1939 in Gladwin. He passed away in 1975.
Gertrude has lived and farmed in Gladwin County all her life. She was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Wesleyan Holiness Church in St. Louis. She wrote poems and short stories for her church publications and held several offices including District Missionary President and Research Secretary for Our Challenge International.
Surviving are two sons, Robert (Betty) Campbell of Ashley and Luren Campbell of Breckenridge; eight grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; three great-greatgrandchildren; and one brother, Glenn Fackler of Florida. Gertrude is predeceased by two grandchildren; one half brother, Archie Fackler; one half sister, Ilo Hager; one stepbrother, Keith Councell; and one stepsister, Ethel Collins.
Services were held Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007 at Gladwin Free Methodist Church. Rev. Nathen Shockley officiated and burial was in Highland Cemetery in Gladwin.
Sisson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
