John Caffrey
JACK CAFFREY DIES SUDDENLY
John B. (Jack) Caffrey, 53, died suddenly last Thursday morning in the hospital of a heart
attack. He had been ill only a few hours. Born in Oil City, Pa., Dec. 19, 1910. Mr. Caffrey came
to Gladwin in 1939 and was manager of the Gladwin warehouse and office of the Oil Well Supply
Company for many years. He was married to the former Miss Beatrice Weaver December 5, 1949, in
Gladwin.
Mr. Caffrey served in the army during World War II. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the
Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society, and was president of the Gladwin Little League. He was
an outstanding bowler and baseball enthusiast.
Surviving are his wife, Beatrice; three sons, Stephen, David and Phillip; and a daughter, Mary
Ann; all at home; his mother, Mrs. Josephine Caffrey, of Oil City, Pa.; a brother, William, Oil City;
three sisters, Miss Irene Caffrey and Mrs. Edward Lynch, both of Oil City, and Mrs. James Donze, of
Santa Monica, Calif.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, with the Rev. Fr. Geoge
Artman officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
