John Burkhart Sr.
John E. Burkhart Sr., 62, of 3156 Bard Rd., Beaverton, died suddenly Monday,
March 25, in the Clare Community Hospital. Born in Fostoria, Ohio July 26, 1922, he came to Gladwin
County in August 1984, from Tawas. He was a veteran of World War II and a retired millwright. Mr.
Burkhart married the former Bessie Heinig Feb. 10, 1945 in California.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, John of Beaverton and Donald of Lansing; 3 daughters,
Cheri Bonfield of Gladwin, Roxanne Beeney of Livonia and Wenday Haggard of Texas; one sister, Esther
McCulluick of California; and 7 grandchildren. A sister, Mamie Kidd, preceded him in death.
Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. from the Sisson-Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Allen
will officiate and burial will be in the Grout Township Cemetery. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Thursday.
