Alfred Burgess
Alfred Carl Burgess, 90, of Midland died Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Brittany Manor.
He was born Sept. 12, 1917 in Sebewaing, son of the late Edward and Stella (Loomis) Burgess. Carl married the former Florence Buzzell May 11, 1955 in Lake City.
He had worked at The Dow Chemical Company for 39 years as a welder-boilmaker. He enjoyed fishing and liked babies and animals.
Surviving besides his wife, Florence, are three sons, Merel Burgess and Randy Burgess, both of Elkhart, Indiana, and Larry Burgess of Anniston, Alabama; two daughters, Dixie (Ernie) Prince of Midland, and Burgess (Jon) Dell- Wilson of Berkley; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Carl was predeceased by one son, Jimmie Burgess; one brother, Paul Burgess; two sisters, Ethel LaMee and Gertrude Kowalski; and by one half-sister, Wava Wendt.
In keeping with Carl’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements for Carl have been entrusted to the care of the Ware- Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors.
