Anthony W. Bumgardner
LONG TIME RESIDENT OF GLADWIN COUNTY CALLED TO HIS LONG REST.
Anthony W. Bumgardner passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Sanford Cook in
Spaulding township, Saginaw county, Friday morning at 1:30 o'clock of a complication of
diseases, aged 75 years. The deceased was born in Hocking county, Ohio, Mar 23, 1833, and
was married to Miss Rebekah England in 1854. They lived in Ohio until 1880 when they came
to Gladwin, where his wife died February 1905. Since the death of Mrs. Bumgardner, he has
lived with his children, coming to the home of Mrs. Cook six months ago. He was a veteran
of the Civil war, having served four years with Co. B 31st Ohio Volunteers. He leaves two
daughters, Mrs. Freeman Wood of Ohio, and Mrs. Sanford Cook of Spaulding, together with four
sons, Thomas of Ohio; Sherman and Leon of Saginaw, and Charles of Gladwin. The remains were
brought to Gladwin for interment. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Sunday at Grout No.
1, schoolhouse conducted by Rev. G. W. Day of Beaverton, followed by interment in Highland
cemetery.
