Wesley Brubaker
RITES HELD TODAY FOR CURT BRUBAKER
Curtis W. Brubaker, 76, well-known Grout Township man, died Sunday, May 31, at Saginaw
Veterans Hospital after a short illness. Born in Defiance, Ohio, on Jan. 26, 1894, he came
to Gladwin County 68 years ago with his parents. Mr. Brubaker was a retired farmer. He was
a veteran of World War I and a member of the Gladwin Knights of Columbus. He was married to
the former Margaret Gruss on March 29, 1921, in Mt. Pleasant.
Besides his wife, he is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Anna Lee Shea, Mrs. Dorothy Rellinger,
Mrs. Betty Wright, of Gladwin, Mrs. Glenna Hitchcock of Beaverton, Mrs. Donna Murphy of Midland,
and Mrs. Lucille Lyons of Clare County; three sons, Harold and R. C. of Beaverton and Paul of
Toledo, Ohio; five brothers, Victor, Dennis, and Ray, of Gladwin, Lawrence of Beaverton, and John
of Clare County; two sisters, Mrs. Nora Gruss of Mt. Pleasant, and Mrs. Elva Kanthak of Toledo; 47
grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Services were held today, Wednesday, at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. Father
Edward Trombley officiated and burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A Rosary was said at 8:30 p.m.
Tuesday evening at the Hall Funeral Home.
