John Browne

   John (Jack) Charles Browne, 54, of Lake Ann, passed away peacefully Tuesday Oct. 17, 2006 at home surrounded by his family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.

   He was born Dec. 18, 1951 in Saginaw to Robert and Anne Browne. Jack attended Beaverton High School, joined the Army in 1969 and served in Vietnam.

   He married Suzanne Lawrence, his life companion of 32 years, on Nov. 30, 1974 in Howell.

   They moved to Traverse City where Jack was employed at the Clinch Park Zoo as zoo keeper for 29 years, educating the community on Michigan Wildlife.

   His love and dedication for his animals was well known to all who knew and loved Jack. Jack's love and passion in life was fishing, camping, and his two children, Johnny and Nicole.

   Jack leaves behind his wife, Suzanne; son, Johnny (Becky Loose); and daughter, Nicole; brother, Robert (Joan) Browne of Hillman; two sisters, Kim Pribbernow of Lake Ann and Cherie Gassman of Florida; Godson, Colin Bassett; and several nieces and nephews.

   Jack had a special place in his heart for his many family members and friends who loved him.

   Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Anne Browne; many aunts and uncles; cousin, Leatha Wismer; and infant greatnephew, Lucas.

   A celebration in memory of Jack's life was held Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006 at Fellowship Church in Traverse City. Memorial contributions may be made to Pet-Safe of Traverse City.

   Jack will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

   The family has entrusted arrangements to Oak Grove Cremation Center in Manistee.
