Wilber Brown
Wilber H. (Pete) Brown Sr.., of Beaverton, died Friday, June 1, in the V.A.
hospital in Lake City, Fla., following a short illness. Born in Grout Township on August 1,
1919, he spent his lifetime in Gladwin County except form 1969 to 1982 when he lived in Elmira.
He retired in August 1969 form the Caustic Department at Dow Chemical Co. Mr. Brown was a veteran
of World War II and a member of the Gladwin County VFW Post 7303, the Gladwin Eagles Club 3292
and the American Legion Post 57 in Lake City, Fla. He was married to the former Piccola Hund on
February 18, 1940, in Beaverton. She preceded him in death February 3, 1980.
Surviving are one son, Wilber Jr. (Sonny) of Lake City, Fla.; 3 daughters, Mrs. Francis (Dorothy)
Buzzell of Beaverton, Mrs. Frank (Edrie) Peters of Gladwin and Mrs. Roger (Nora) Dawson of Boyne City;
one brother, Leo of Clio; one sister, Mrs. Edrie Swanton of Beaverton; 12 grandchildren and 4 great
grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. The Rev. Carter
Miller officiated and burial was in the Grout Township Cemetery.
