Esther Broka
Esther Broka, 86, of Beaverton passed away Dec. 8, 2006 at MidMichigan Medial Center-Gladwin after a long illness.
She was born Sept. 5, 1920 to Everett and Ida Mae (French) Derrick in Coldwater. Ida Mae then married Claude Fairchild in Beaverton.
Esther was a teacher at Beaverton Rural Schools; she retired after 35 years. She lived in Gladwin County most of her life. She was a member of Dale United Methodist Church. Esther married George in Beaverton on May 18, 1947.
She is survived by one son, Thomas (Joyce) Broka of Bay City; one daughter, Diana (Ralph) Grimaldo of Beaverton; and several grandchildren, Derrick Broka of Tucson, Arizona, Stephanie and John Wilson of Durham, North Carolina, Jeremy Vallender of Beaverton, Kate and Derek Chism of Marshall, Michelle Grimaldo of Holland, DeeAnna Overweg of Holland, and Barry Grimaldo of Arizona. She is predeceased by her husband, George, in 1998; and her parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to Miracle Ranch Children’s Home for books for the library (contact the family for an address).
According to the wishes of the family, cremation has taken place.
