Ephriam Briggs
HOLD SERVICES FOR CONSERVATION MAN
Funeral services were held for Ephriam B. Briggs, 50, on Saturday afternoon, April 13,
at the Gladwin Methodist church. Burial took place in Highland cemetery, with Rev. John
Scott officiating, assisted by the Harrison Post, No. 1975, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr.
Briggs was born on July 31, 1895, in Roscommon county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Briggs.
On May 3, 1924, he was married to Miss Stella Smith, in Detroit. He died at the Gladwin
Hospital, Wednesday, after an illness of four months.
About four years ago Mr. and Mrs. Briggs came from Harrison where they had operated a farm
for many years, before Mr. Briggs joined the Michigan Department of Conservation as fire warden,
in 1938. They made their home here in Buckeye township, just east of the city.
Surviving are his widow, Stella; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Sampson, of Sanford, and Miss Lou
Ellen Briggs, at home; two sons, Richard and Donald, both at home; his mother, Mrs. Catherine
Briggs, of Ferndale; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Beal, of Ferndale, Mrs. Emma Clingan, of Royal
Oak, and Mrs. Katherine Funek, of Grayling; two brothers, Jack Jr. and Roger Briggs, both of
Midland.
