Maude Bowers
Mrs. Maude Bowers, 81, died at her home in Butnam Township, Wednesday, June 9,
following an illness of two months. Born in Ontario, Canada, June 11, 1889, Mrs. Bowers had been
a resident o Gladwin County for 67 years, coming here in 1904. The former, Miss Maude DeLaurier
was married to William Bowers December 11, 1907, in Gladwin County. He preceded her in death Sept.
16, 1966.
Surviving are one son, Max of Gladwin; four daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Benmark and
Mrs. Evaleen Walters, bothe of Gladwin, Mrs. Pearl Myers and Mrs. Lula Belle Walters, both of Flint;
24 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren; three brothers, Duncan DeLaurier of Pontiac, Jacob of
Battle Creek, and Andrew of Oakville, Washington; one sister Mrs. Florence Wright of Vancouver, B.C.
Services were held Saturday, June 12, at 2:00 at the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin,
with Elder Harold McAllister officiating. Burial was in Butman Cemetery. Mrs. Bowers had been a faithful
correspondent of The Record for her area for more than 40 years, prior to her illness.
