MARVIN H. BLAKE


  Marvin H. Blake, age 82, of Beaverton, died April 6, 2003 at MidMichigan Medical Center in Gladwin, suddenly. He was born July 5, 1920 to Sylvester and Denage (Gregoire) Blake in Marshall, Minnesota. He lived in Gladwin County 30 years, having previously resided in Lansing. Blake worked as a carpenter with Local 334 in Lansing. He also served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church; Moose Lodge 456, Estey; American Legion 443, Sanford; and Knights of Columbus 12660, Edenville. In August 1950 Marvin married his wife Julia Blake at Angola, Indiana. She preceded him in death in 1976.

  He is survived by lifelong friend Armilla Day of Beaverton; daughter Lola Mae (Ronald) Shuert of Mt. Pleasant; three grandchildren and several great grandchildren; brothers, Donald (Lucille) Blake of Marshall, MN, and Ray (Darlene) Blake of Lansing; sister, Angela Nelson of Missour Valley, IA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brother Harry Blake, and his sister Doris Schulte.

  Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2003 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Edenville, Rev. Fr. Todd Arnberg officiating. Burial will take place in Beaverton Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 9 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home in Gladwin. Special services will take place Wednesday, April 9 at 7 p.m. with Military Honors performed by V.F.W. Post 7303. .
